Before we dive in on what to do in Capri let see how to get to the Island first. Follow our simple step by step guide on how to get to Capri below.

If you are traveling from Naples Capodichino airport you need to get to Molo Beverello by taxi or bus. The bus service is called Alibus and the price starts at €5 more info here. If you wish to travel by taxi you can pick up one from outside the airport, the price is about €25. Once at Molo Beverello you need to get a ferry directly to Capri, more info here on the different ferry services.

If you are travelling from the Amalfi Coast or Sorrento you can get to Capri by ferry from Positano, Amalfi or Sorrento.

Our list on What to do in Capri

1) Don’t miss the Blue Grotto, you can get access from Marina Piccola by boat or from Anacapri by bus. The price for person is €14 and you need to get on a small wooden rawboat with only four people at the time. The visit last 5 mintes and the waiting time depending on which month you visit but can be up to 1 hour in high season.

2) Visit Monte Solaro, this is the highest point with incredible views over the Faraglioni Rocks, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Gulf of Naples. The chair lift depart from Piazza Vittoria and takes 12 minutes to get to the top the price is €11 per person for a round trip or €8 one way.

3) Villa San Michele located in Anacapri, once the house of the Swedish Swedish physician, Axel Munthe, his first visit to Capri is dated 1895, he fel in love with the Island and he built his villa from the ruins of an ancient Chapel dedicated to San Michele. 4) Faraglioni Rocks, the most iconic symbol of the Island of Capri. The best way to see the Faraglioni is by a boat tour of the Island, the captain will sail through the rocks and the legend say that you need to kiss you sweetheart for good luck. The Faraglioni rock formations of Capri are 100 metre from the sea level and they also have names, the closest to the shore is called Stella, the one in the middle is called Faraglione di Mezzo, where the famouse archway is located, and the third is called Faraglione di Fuori.

5) The Gardens of Augustus, previusly know as the garden of Krupp. The gardens are an extension of the Charterhouse of San Giacomo bought by the German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp who also built the famous Via Krupp, which is near by, at the beginning on 1900s. The entry price is €1 per person, the entry for the Augustus Garden plus the Charterhouse of Sant Giacomo is €3 free for kids under 11.

6) The Arco Naturale is located in the east side of the Island of Capri they are the remains of a calapse grotto and is dated back to the Paleolithic age. From the square facing the arch you can admire incredible views over the Sorrento Peninsula, Li Galli Island and Punta Campanella.

Marina Piccola

The beach of Marina Piccola is located on the souther part of Capri Island, this is the best beach spot if you are looking to take a dip closer to the Faraglioni Rock. You can get to Marina Piccola by walk from the centre of Capri by via Krupp, a fantastic walk with incredibles views or you can get the bus. Once you get there you can choose to stay on the 2 free beaches Marina di Muro and Marina di Pennauro or you can choose from the following private beach clubs, Bagni Internazionali, Da Gioia, La Canzone del Mare, Torre Saracena (make sure to make a reservation well in advance. Make sure to get there early as the sun leaves the bay around 4pm

Villa Jovis

Villa Jovis was one of the many villas built by the Roman Emperor Tiberius and is the largest of the twelve Tiberian villas on the island. The villa was  built on a high cliff on the eastern side of the island, with a commanding view of the Bay of Naples. It was probably used as a retreat and as a place to entertain guests. The name “Villa Jovis” means “Villa of Jupiter,” as the villa was dedicated to the Roman god Jupiter. Piazza Umberto I is named after King Umberto I of Italy, who was the king o Italy from 1861 to 1878. The square is the main public square in the
town and is a popular gathering place for both tourists and locals. It is surrounded by several important buildings, including the Town Hall the Church of Santo Stefano, and the Clock Tower. The square is also home to several cafes and restaurants, which are popular with tourists and locals alike. Piazza Umberto I is a busy and lively place, and it is a great place to experience the local culture and atmosphere of the town of Capri.

Punta Carena Lighthouse

Punta Carena Lighthouse is a lighthouse located on the western coast of the island. It is located in the town of Anacapri, near the southern end of the island. The lighthouse is situated on a rocky promontory known as Punta Carena, which juts out into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The lighthouse was built in 1867 and is still in operation today. The lighthouse is a popular tourist destination on the island of Capri and can be reached by a scenic walk along the coast.

Certosa di San Giacomo

The Certosa di San Giacomo is a Carthusian monastery. It was founded in 1366 by the Carthusian monk Giacomo da San Giovanni, who chose the island of Capri as the site for his monastery because of its remote location and beautiful setting. The monastery was built on a hill overlooking the town of Anacapri and the Bay of Naples, and it is surrounded by a walled garden. The monastery is known for its peaceful atmosphere and its beautiful architecture, which includes a cloister, a church, and a refectory. The Certosa di San Giacomo is now a museum and is open to the public.

Casa Malaparte

Casa Malaparte house is located on the eastern coast of the island, on the Punta Massullo promontory, and has a spectacular view of the Bay of Naples. The house was designed by the Italian architect Adalberto Libera and was built in the 1930s for the Italian journalist, writer, and politician Curzio Malaparte. The house is an unusual and striking building, with a red exterior and a flat roof. It is considered a masterpiece of modernist
architecture and has been featured in many magazines and books. The house is now a private residence and is not open to the public, but it can be viewed from the outside.

Phoenician Steps

The Phoenician Steps (also known as the “Scalea Fenicia” in Italian) is a historic staircase located in the town of Anacapri, on the western side of the island, and leads from the town to the summit of Monte Solaro, the highest peak on the island. The Phoenician Steps were built by the ancient Phoenicians, who settled on the island of Capri in the 8th century BC. The staircase consists of over 600 steps carved into the rock and is one of the oldest and most famous landmarks on the island. The Phoenician Steps are a popular tourist destination on the island of Capri and offer a challenging and scenic hike to the top of Monte Solaro.

Villa Lysis

Villa Lysis is a villa located in the town of Anacapri, on the western side of the island. The villa was built in the early 20th century by the French poet, novelist, and playwright Pierre Louÿs. Louÿs named the villa after one of his own poems, “Lysis,” which was inspired by the beauty and tranquility of the island of Capri. The villa was designed in the Art Nouveau style and was decorated with frescoes, mosaics, and stained glass windows. Louÿs used the villa as a summer home and as a place to entertain guests, including many famous writers and artists. Today, the villa is a private residence and is not open to the public.
